Zamir: ‘The IDF is fit, prepared and ready to defend the State of Israel’

On Sunday, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir stated that the IDF is "fit, prepared and ready to defend the State of Israel" during a surprise nationwide readiness drill named "Breaking Dawn 2.0." The exercise, launched early Sunday morning, aimed to test the military's preparedness for a sudden, large-scale multi-front conflict ahead of the High Holidays. Zamir observed troops at the Ground Training Center in the Negev Desert, assessing the readiness of forces, activation of alert forces and reserves, and decision-making processes across all command levels. He emphasized that the drill was "another step in implementing the lessons of [the Hamas-led invasion into Israel on Oct. 7, 2023,] and examining the IDF’s readiness for a scenario involving a surprise war," adding that the IDF is "changing, correcting and strengthening" its methods.
