British retailer investigating after pro-Palestinian stickers placed on potatoes

Marks & Spencer (M&S) is investigating after pro-Palestinian boycott stickers were found on Israeli-imported potato packages at its Worthing branch. A customer discovered a sticker, featuring the Palestinian flag and the words “Boycott Israeli Apartheid,” on a 1.5-kg package of Maris Piper potatoes. UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI) reported the incident to M&S CEO Stuart Machin, arguing that such actions could constitute unlawful interference with trade and an offense under British law. M&S stated, “it appears that one of the products was tampered with without our knowledge,” and confirmed an inquiry is underway, with findings to be shared with authorities. UKLFI welcomed the investigation, asserting that “Political activists have no right to interfere with products sold in supermarkets.” The Maris Piper potato, though grown in Israel for export, is a British variety.
