Canadian man charged after targeted vandalism of Saskatchewan synagogue

A 31-year-old man from Dundurn, Saskatchewan, has been charged with three counts of mischief under $5,000 after turning himself in to Saskatoon Police. The charges relate to a targeted vandalism attack on August 1, during which eggs were thrown at the Congregation Agudas Israel Synagogue and associated vehicles during Shabbat services. Superintendent James Oliver stated, "Any evidence that an offense was motivated by bias, prejudice, or hate is considered by the court as an aggravating factor during sentencing." The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) welcomed the arrest, noting that "attacking a place of worship is deeply disturbing and represents yet another example of extremists spreading hate and targeting Jewish Canadians." This incident is part of a broader trend of attacks against Jewish and Israeli institutions across Canada.
