Foreign influence, including from Israel, does not dictate US's Iran policy, Vance tells Joe Rogan

US Vice President JD Vance, during an appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast, addressed the extent of Israeli influence on US policy regarding Iran. Vance acknowledged a "very discreet, extremely well-funded campaign" by certain elements within the Israeli government, linked to a former Trump campaign manager, aimed at derailing US-Iran negotiations and promoting a continued military campaign. He referenced a Time magazine article detailing this effort, which he stated involved paying conservative influencers to attack him for pursuing the president's negotiation objectives, including preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and ensuring the free flow of oil and gas. Vance clarified that while he doesn't object to allies attempting to influence US policy, he is concerned when American leadership allows such influence to sway their judgment. He also defended himself against accusations of antisemitism, stating, "I have a ton of respect for the Jewish religion." Vance views Israel as an ally with whom the US will have both agreements and disagreements, similar to other allied nations.
