Former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen takes on new role at Japanese investment firm
Even before Cohen joined SoftBank, it had made a number of investments in Israel – some of them successful – including in Lemonade and eToro.
Former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen has been appointed as a strategic advisor at the Japanese investment firm SoftBank, a more senior role that brings him closer to top decision-making levels. Cohen, who joined SoftBank five years ago as head of Israeli operations for Vision Fund 2, will continue to operate in the Israeli market but will now focus on new areas, including financing and developing data centers for AI and cloud processing, and investing in chip companies. Previously, he was primarily involved in cybersecurity investments, participating in successful ventures like Wiz, Claroty, and Cato Networks. This shift aligns with SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son's decision to move from the venture capital model of Vision Fund to direct investments in AI infrastructure and chip companies.
