Former Palestinian envoy Ashraf Dabbour detained in Lebanon over corruption claims

Former Palestinian envoy to Lebanon, Ashraf Dabbour, was provisionally detained in Lebanon on Monday following a decision by Judge Ahmad Rami al-Hajj. This detention relates to financial corruption charges brought by the Palestinian Authority, including illicit enrichment, money laundering, and abuse of trust. Dabbour was previously arrested and released in April on an Interpol warrant for similar charges. Lebanon's Cabinet will decide on his potential extradition to the PA after reviewing a report from the prosecution. Dabbour, who served for over a decade, denies the accusations, alleging on Facebook that PA President Mahmoud Abbas's son, Yasser Abbas, is using his influence to pursue him with arrest warrants to settle personal scores.
