Grossinger’s Catskills resort to be redeveloped as year-round destination
The 1,029-acre former Jewish vacation resort, which closed in 1986 and inspired the film “Dirty Dancing,” will feature new golf, equestrian, hospitality, residential and wellness facilities.
The former Grossinger’s resort in New York’s Catskill Mountains, a 1,029-acre property that closed in 1986, is slated for redevelopment into a year-round resort and residential community. Florida-based PPG Development, led by Ari Pearl, acquired the site for $14.75 million in June 2025. The plans include restoring the Big G golf course, adding a second course, a 100-room hotel, approximately 175 private residences, a polo and equestrian center, and various wellness and recreational facilities. PPG stated that Grossinger's is "being reimagined as a premier year-round resort and residential community in the heart of the Catskills." The original Grossinger’s was a significant Jewish vacation destination and is widely considered an inspiration for the film “Dirty Dancing.”
