Iran strikes tankers in Strait of Hormuz following US attacks

On Tuesday, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for striking two tankers, the Mombasa and Al Bahiyah, in the Strait of Hormuz using cruise missiles. The UAE's Defense Ministry reported one Indian crew member killed and eight others wounded, including six Indian and two Ukrainian nationals. The IRGC stated the tankers were hit after ignoring warnings and attempting to pass through a "mined route," accusing the US of "inciting vessels to use an illegal route." This incident followed US President Donald Trump's announcement on Monday of reinstating a blockade of Iranian shipping and asserting the US would become the "guardian of the strait." Additionally, the IRGC claimed to have struck critical infrastructure at US military bases in Kuwait and a US air base in Jordan with ballistic missiles, though CENTCOM dismissed these claims as "lies." Meanwhile, Iran also sustained hits, with US strikes reportedly killing three people in Iran's Hormozgan Province on Monday night.
