Iran's attacks on Emirati tankers leaves Gulf united against Islamic regime – analysis

Recent Iranian attacks on two UAE supertankers, the Mombasa and Al Bahyah, in the Strait of Hormuz on July 6-7, resulted in one Indian sailor killed and eight injured, sparking widespread condemnation and Gulf unity against Iran. The UAE Ministry of Defense confirmed the vessels were struck by two Iranian cruise missiles, sustaining significant damage. India also summoned the Iranian ambassador after one of its citizens died in the attack.

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, including Bahrain and Qatar, have expressed strong solidarity with the UAE, condemning the incident as a “terrorist attack” and a “flagrant violation of Security Council Resolution 2817,” which emphasizes freedom of navigation. The UAE has asserted its right to respond to this escalation, while the GCC is urging the UN to deter Iran, which appears to be attempting to impose a fee system on ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
