Israel-Lebanon peace talks set to resume in Rome

U.S.-led peace talks between Israel and Lebanon are set to resume in Rome from August 4-6, following "significant momentum" from a successful pilot zone launch in southern Lebanon and Lebanese President Aoun's meeting with President Trump. Technical teams will focus on implementing the trilateral framework agreement, expanding pilot zones, resolving border disputes, and working towards a comprehensive peace and security agreement. The framework is considered "the only path to lasting peace" and aims to restore Lebanese state authority through the disarmament of terrorist organizations. The Israel-Lebanon Trilateral Framework Agreement, reached on June 26, calls for Hezbollah's disarmament, with Israel emphasizing that a full withdrawal will occur only after the threat from the Iranian proxy is removed.
