Israeli Hospital Partners With OpenAI In Hospital's First International AI Deployment

Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan announced on July 28 a collaboration with OpenAI to deploy an enterprise healthcare AI platform, providing secure access to an AI-powered clinical reasoning tool for its physicians, nurses, researchers, and staff. This initiative, led by Sheba's ARC unit, is described as one of the first large-scale deployments of generative AI across an entire hospital system, allowing clinicians to synthesize peer-reviewed studies and clinical guidelines with verifiable citations. The platform will also integrate Sheba's clinical protocols and support administrative tasks, with the hospital gaining early access to OpenAI's newest models for research.

"We are not just implementing AI in medicine but building a fully AI-powered hospital, and providing secure access to the world's most advanced AI is a decisive step in that transformation," said Prof. Eyal Zimlichman, Chief Innovation and AI Officer at Sheba Medical Center.

Security measures ensure patient data protection and that OpenAI's models will not be trained on Sheba's data, with final medical decisions remaining the responsibility of clinicians.
