Larson, challengers clash over military aid to Israel in CT's 1st District debate

During a televised debate on WTNH News 8, Congressman John Larson and his three Democratic primary challengers for Connecticut's 1st District clashed over U.S. military aid to Israel. Larson defended his vote for aid, stating, "Yes, I voted in favor of making sure that Israel, our ally, is going to get the aid from the United States that it needs." Luke Bronin, a former Hartford mayor, opposed funding offensive weapons for Israel, while State Representative Gillian Gilchrest argued that U.S. taxpayer dollars should not support what she termed a "genocide." Ruth Fortune, a Hartford lawyer, contended that Israel uses weapons beyond defense. The candidates also debated campaign finance and politician retirement ages, but agreed on abolishing ICE and Medicare for all. The primary is on August 11.
