Missouri probes if Students for Justice in Palestine funds 'radical Islamic terror'

Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway has launched a civil investigation into Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) to determine the destination of funds raised in the state. The investigation, prompted by concerns that money could be unknowingly financing “radical Islamic terrorism,” seeks to identify all recipients of SJP’s charitable appeals in Missouri and trace fund transfers. Hanaway’s office issued a demand to both the national SJP group and its University of Missouri chapter, citing public reports and SJP statements that praised Hamas’s violence and distributed a “Day of Resistance” toolkit. Stephanie Whitaker, communications director for the attorney general, stated, “Our office will not tolerate any organization duping Missourians or Missouri students into unknowingly financing radical Islamic terrorism.” The investigation’s timing is coincidental with a First Amendment lawsuit filed by CAIR attorneys regarding SJP’s exclusion from a university parade.
