Musical band Massive Attack members barred from Singapore after displaying Palestinian flag

Two members of the British band Massive Attack were issued warnings and barred from re-entering Singapore after displaying the Palestinian flag at their concert on Wednesday. Authorities investigated the band for "actions of support for a political cause and unfurling of a foreign flag." Singapore prohibits the public display of foreign national emblems without a permit, a policy particularly sensitive given the Israel-Hamas conflict and Singapore's Muslim population. The Infocomm Media Development Authority is also investigating potential breaches of license conditions. The Home Affairs Ministry previously advised against public displays related to the conflict, stating, "The peace and harmony between different races and religions in Singapore should not be taken for granted."
