Pro-Israel Michigan Dem says she was 'harassed, followed' over her Zionist views
"People are free to disagree with me, challenge me and protest my positions. That is democracy. But disagreement is not license for intimidation or harassment," said Rep. Haley Stevens.
Representative Haley Stevens (D-Mich.) reported on Tuesday that she was "harassed, followed, shouted at and harassed" by two individuals after a science committee hearing due to her pro-Israel stance. Stevens, who recently lost the Democratic primary for Senate, stated, "disagreement is not license for intimidation or harassment." She emphasized her support for a two-state solution and an end to Middle East conflicts. Rabbi Asher Lopatin of Detroit commented that "it is tragic that the obsession with Israel, and hatred of the concept of a Jewish state, is leading so many to abandon basic values of decency and civility."
