Spanish PM says disinformation on Ceuta crisis was spread by Russia, Israel

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stated that Russia and Israel spread disinformation regarding the mass entry of migrants into Spain's North African enclave of Ceuta last month. Citing EU foreign service research, Sanchez claimed both countries used the crisis to criticize the Spanish government due to disagreements over Madrid's stance on conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. This follows over 72,000 migrants entering Ceuta, leading to EU tensions and anti-immigration rhetoric. The Antisemitism Research Center (ARC) monitored social media posts after the July 30 influx, finding that a "humanitarian emergency at Europe's border was turned into a global antisemitic campaign in under 72 hours," with antisemitic tropes blaming Israel and Jewish people for destabilizing Europe.
