‘This is what we’re fighting for’: Golani commanders take children to first grade

The Golani Brigade decided to allow all career officers and soldiers to accompany their children to school on September 1, prioritizing family alongside their military mission. Lt. Col. N., deputy commander of the Golani Brigade, whose 6-year-old daughter Maya is starting first grade, stated, “The mission is our top priority, but we do not forget the home front.” He acknowledged the difficulties of balancing military service with family life, expressing his joy for Maya's excitement. Lt. Col. A., commander of Golani’s 12th Battalion, also accompanied his 6-year-old daughter Ella to first grade. He emphasized the importance of maintaining routine and family life, noting, “This is what we are fighting for — so there can be school, so there can be routine, so the school year can begin.” Both officers highlighted the support of their wives in preparing for this significant day and conveyed messages of encouragement to their children and to those whose parents could not be present due to military duties.
