US House passes $1.15 trillion military bill expanding Israel cooperation

The US House of Representatives narrowly passed a $1.15 trillion military spending bill, the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), on Wednesday with a vote of 216 to 212. The bill, largely supported by Republicans, faces opposition from Democrats due to its high cost and provisions expanding military technology cooperation with Israel. Republican Representative Thomas Massie criticized the bill, stating it "tragically merges our military technology and supply chains with Israel’s." The NDAA, which reflects President Donald Trump’s request for increased military spending, also includes aid for Ukraine and the SAVE America Act. Its future in the Senate is uncertain, as Democrats previously blocked debate on the bill, with Minority Leader Chuck Schumer calling it a "permission slip" for the government’s war on Iran.
