‘We made history’: Israel’s U20 women return home to heroes’ welcome

Israel's U20 women's national basketball team received a heroes' welcome at Ben-Gurion International Airport after securing a silver medal at the FIBA U20 Women’s EuroBasket competition in Lithuania. This marks the first time an Israeli women’s national basketball team has won a medal at a European championship. The team, which captivated sports fans across the country, fell to France 79-66 in the championship game on Sunday. Head coach Tal Nathan attributed the historic achievement to the team's chemistry and resilience, stating, “The girls have a crazy desire to succeed, they love each other and that’s the point.” Player Gal Raviv, who was named to the tournament’s All-Star Five, expressed pride, saying, “We are disappointed with the loss in the final, but very proud of the history we made.”
