AG tells court efforts to stop Ben Gvir from undermining police independence have failed

This assessment was part of an update regarding an April court decision that mandated Ben Gvir adhere to principles designed to prevent his interference in police work. Baharav-Miara stated that Ben Gvir refused to agree to the final version of these principles, effectively rejecting the apolitical nature of the police and the prohibition of political interference in the use of force. She cited his public comments on a criminal investigation into a senior police officer, remarks on the use of stun grenades, and ongoing intervention in police appointments as violations of the court order. Ben Gvir, in turn, dismissed her claims, asserting that she is attempting to undermine the right-wing government.
