At least six killed in IDF strike on Gaza City cafe targeting Hamas commanders
The IDF released a statement, saying that they targeted Hamas commanders in the Shati area who were planning to carry out attacks against the IDF in the Gaza Strip.
An IDF airstrike in northern Gaza City on Tuesday targeted and killed several Hamas commanders who were planning attacks against Israeli troops. The IDF confirmed that four of those killed were Nukhba commanders, including a company commander and three platoon commanders, who had participated in the October 7 massacre. The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry and Army Radio reported that at least six people were killed and ten wounded in the strike, which occurred at a cafe near the fishing seaport. The IDF stated that measures were taken to mitigate harm to uninvolved civilians prior to the strike. This operation follows recent policy changes requiring IDF Chief of Staff approval for most strikes in Gaza, with exceptions for immediate threats. Defense Minister Israel Katz affirmed, "Israel's policy in Gaza, as clarified to the IDF by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is clear: Remove threats, eliminate terrorists, and exact retribution from anyone who took part in the October 7 massacre."
