Israel orders evictions, home demolitions to displace Palestinians near East Jerusalem

Israeli authorities have issued forced eviction and demolition notices for dozens of Palestinian homes in Kafr Aqab, north of East Jerusalem, giving families one week to vacate. These orders follow previous notices halting construction on approximately 20 homes, which the Jerusalem Governorate states is part of a policy to prevent Palestinian urban development. Additionally, Israeli forces placed concrete barriers in the Khneideq area to install a new military gate, further restricting Palestinian movement. The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission reports 917 military checkpoints in the West Bank, with 244 added since October 2023. Human rights organizations and the UN consider these actions violations of international law.
