Israel wins 13 medals at 2026 physics, biology, chemistry Olympiads

Israeli teams secured 13 medals, including five gold, at the 2026 International Science Olympiads in physics, biology, and chemistry held in July. The physics team, training at Ben-Gurion University, won five medals in Colombia, with Ruth Kozlovsky earning gold. Ben-Gurion University's president stated this success "is clear proof of the high caliber of science education in Israel."

• At the International Biology Olympiad in Lithuania, students from Tel Aviv University won four medals, including gold for Olga Besova and Yehuda Lester.
• In the International Chemistry Olympiad in Uzbekistan, the Technion-trained team also achieved four medals, with Itamar Ben Shmuel and Yogev Cohen Ben Zaken winning gold.
• Education Minister Yoav Kisch noted, "This is a clear expression of the depth of excellence that has been built here over the years and the ongoing investment in nurturing science education in Israel."
