Malaysia envoy summoned by US over Israel stance

The US State Department summoned the Malaysian ambassador to Washington to clarify Malaysia's stance on Israel. Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan stated that Malaysia's long-standing policy of not recognizing Israel is not new, asserting, "It has always been Malaysia's policy. Our immigration policy does not recognise the State of Israel or the Zionist regime." This follows Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's recent announcement that Israeli nationals found in Malaysia would be deported. The Ministry of Home Affairs is investigating allegations that Israeli citizens with dual nationality entered Malaysia using other passports, violating immigration laws, particularly concerning a project called Network School.
