MSF demands Israel release detained Palestinian healthcare workers

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has demanded the immediate release of Palestinian healthcare workers detained by Israel, expressing outrage over their treatment and dire conditions. MSF highlighted the cases of Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, who has reportedly been tortured in solitary confinement for over 18 months, and orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Mohammed Obeid, imprisoned for over 600 days. Physicians for Human Rights Israel reports over 50 healthcare workers, including 15 doctors, are held in inhumane conditions, while Healthcare Workers Watch figures indicate 446 detentions since October 7, 2023, with six reportedly killed in detention. MSF stated, "for too long, too many world leaders have failed to condemn Israel’s conduct in Palestine. Silence has become complicity."
