Syria intercepts massive Hezbollah arms shipment hidden inside oil tanker from Iraq

Syria's Interior Ministry announced Thursday the interception of a significant arms shipment, likely intended for Hezbollah, hidden within an oil tanker attempting to cross from Iraq into Syria. The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that "specialized security units carried out the operation after detecting a suspicious vehicle parked near the border." The seized weapons included "long-range missiles, guided anti-tank missiles, and drones," according to the Interior Ministry. The Alma Research and Education Center noted the shipment contained "at least 100 UAVs (drones), optical fiber spools, RPG warheads... anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) and, most likely, Paveh-family cruise missiles," consistent with Hezbollah's force build-up. The interception occurred at the Tanf border crossing, as Syria intensifies efforts against terrorism and drug smuggling.
