Trump names Jewish Will Scharf as new White House counsel, assistant to the president

On Sunday, US President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that Will Scharf will assume the role of White House counsel and assistant to the president, effective September 1. Scharf, who is Jewish, previously served as White House staff secretary and oversaw the administrative work of the Oval Office, including leading the National Capital Planning Commission. Trump praised Scharf as “Tough, Strong, and Smart!” and noted his academic background from Princeton and Harvard Law School. Scharf will replace David Warrington, who is transitioning to the private sector after serving as White House counsel and a lawyer for Trump's 2024 campaign.
