Board of Peace issues first construction contract for Moroccan security force base in Gaza – report

The US President's Board of Peace (BoP) has reportedly issued its first construction contract in the Gaza Strip for a Moroccan security force base. According to The Guardian, citing a source familiar with the matter, the project involves a 150-person military outpost, 100 by 120 meters in area, located approximately one mile from the Israeli border within Israeli-controlled Gaza territory. This base is intended for Moroccan soldiers rotating from an Israeli base and includes a "quick extraction route." Earlier plans indicated this as the initial phase of a larger 5,000-person base. The contract was reportedly awarded to Arkel International, a Louisiana-based company. However, a BoP official stated that while they are "in the final stages of preparing several contract awards," none have been finalized, adding that one prospective contract concerns facilities for an "international stabilization force (ISF)" to support security and governance in Gaza.
