Heartbreaking farewell to Netanel Shukrun: ‘Dad, thank you for giving me my life’

Hundreds gathered at the Alei Zahav cemetery to mourn Netanel Shukrun, a high-tech professional and father of six, who was murdered at the Ein Raya spring in the Binyamin region just hours before Yom Kippur. Shukrun, 48, was at the spring with his 16-year-old son, Yoav, for a pre-holiday immersion when a terrorist opened fire on their vehicle. Netanel was killed, but his son was unharmed, reportedly due to his father's warning. Yoav eulogized his father, stating, "Dad, thank you for giving me my life." Netanel's wife, Merav, and his daughters also shared heartfelt tributes, highlighting his devotion as a family man and his meticulous planning for family trips and daily life. The attack was carried out by 37-year-old Hamas operative Qadri Samara, who was later apprehended by IDF forces in Ramallah. Leaders from the Samaria Regional Council and IDF Central Command attended the funeral, with many emphasizing Netanel's bravery in saving his son.
