IDF expands probe into abnormally strong explosion that killed two reservists in Lebanon

The IDF is expanding its investigation into an explosion in southern Lebanon that killed two reservists, Maj. (res.) Harel Birenstock and M.-Sgt. (res.) Tamir Vaknin, and wounded four others in Majdal Zoun. The blast's unusual strength prompted further inquiry, initially ruling out unexploded ordnance despite an earlier bomb drop nearby. Preliminary findings indicate the force entered and exited the building, and the device detonated when they passed by a second time. While the prevailing assessment points to an old explosive device, Northern Command is also considering the possibility that Hezbollah tampered with it.
