Netanyahu, Congo president agree to strengthen economic, security ties

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Democratic Republic of the Congo President Félix Tshisekedi in Jerusalem on Tuesday to strengthen economic and security relations. Netanyahu welcomed Tshisekedi, calling him a "good friend" of Israel and stating, "It is a great friendship."

• President Tshisekedi also met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, accompanied by a senior Congolese delegation, to discuss bilateral relations, international and regional issues, and security challenges.
• Herzog emphasized Israel's focus on expanding relations with African countries and thanked Tshisekedi for his support in international forums, noting, "The relations that we have with the Democratic Republic of the Congo are incredibly important to us."
• Tshisekedi affirmed his country's desire to strengthen long-standing ties, highlighting discussions on cooperation in agriculture, food security, water, health, technology, security, training, and investment.
• The Congolese President expressed an ambition to build a "modern, pragmatic and mutually beneficial partnership" with Israel.
